Super Micro Computer is deepening its cooperation with NVIDIA to consolidate its position in the AI market. AI factory solutions are intended to strengthen the position in the data center segment.

• Super Micro is building new AI factory cluster solutions based on NVIDIA’s Blackwell GPUs
• Turnkey systems range from 4 nodes with 32 GPUs to 32 nodes with 256 GPUs
• CEO Charles Liang sees the AI factory as the foundation for the transformation of every company

From server manufacturer to AI infrastructure provider

Super Micro Computer (SMCI) is significantly expanding its role in the AI hardware market. In mid-November 2025, the company announced new AI Factory cluster solutions based on NVIDIA’s Enterprise Reference Architectures and the Blackwell GPU platform at the Supercomputing Conference. As the company’s press release indicates, these are fully integrated and validated systems that are delivered as complete turnkey solutions – including NVIDIA software stack and NVIDIA Spectrum-X Ethernet network.

The strategic move marks a change for Super Micro. Instead of selling individual servers and storage components, the company is now positioning itself as a provider of complete AI factories. The pre-configured cluster solutions range from 4 nodes with 32 GPUs to 32 nodes with 256 GPUs and are integrated and tested at the company’s global production sites – including San Jose, California. Super Micro CEO Charles Liang called the AI factory the foundation for turning any company into an AI company.

Plug and play for AI data centers

The new partnership with NVIDIA aims to significantly simplify building AI infrastructure. Companies can install the pre-built systems according to NVIDIA’s blueprints without having to develop complex hardware architectures themselves. The solutions include computing power, networking, cooling and management software in one package. Super Micro’s Data Center Building Block Solutions (DCBBS) are also intended to accelerate the construction of new data centers or the conversion of existing systems into AI factories.

According to the company’s announcement, Super Micro is already accepting orders for configurations with NVIDIA RTX PRO 6000 Blackwell Server Edition or NVIDIA HGX B200 GPUs. The systems are optimized for AI and high-performance computing at various scales and are intended to enable companies to use a common infrastructure for AI inference, enterprise HPC and graphics rendering.

Weak price development despite strategic realignment

The deepened NVIDIA partnership has not yet been reflected in the share price. Super Micro is one of the weakest performers among AI stocks in recent months. The share has lost over 70 percent of its value since March 2024 and is trading well below its highs at the time of over $110.

According to InvestorsObserver, the weak performance is due to several factors. In the first fiscal quarter of 2025, Super Micro recorded a gross margin of just 9.3 percent – the lowest value in the company’s history. Rising costs, an unfavorable product mix and delays in revenue recognition due to specification changes from a major customer weighed on the results. It remains to be seen whether the strategic realignment as an integral part of the NVIDIA-based AI supply chain can bring about a turnaround.
