The Olympic Games will take place next February. There is also a well-known face from music who is given a special task.
US rapper Snoop Dogg has been assigned an unusual role for the 2026 Winter Olympics: He will support the US team in Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo as honorary coach. The US Olympic and Paralympic Committee has officially appointed Snoop Dogg as “Coach Snoop”.
In his new role, the musician should use his charm as a motivator – and lead athletes like Lindsey Vonn and Mikaela Shiffrin to medals. The 54-year-old said he would support Team USA “in all moments on and off the field.” The Winter Olympics begin on February 6, 2026 and end on February 22.
In addition to his job as a motivational coach, Snoop Dog will also commentate on the competitions for NBC. He had already done that at the Summer Games in Paris in 2024. The “New York Times” described him as “NBC’s new voice of the people” after he thrilled not only fans with his performances in the French capital.
Snoop Dogg, who has been co-owner of the Welsh second division soccer team Swansea City since July, received an Emmy alongside Martha Stewart for his debut as a TV pundit. He was already working as an Olympic reporter in 2021, but at that time he was still from the studio in the USA.
The musician himself is positive about his new role: “I am very happy to announce that I have joined the United States Olympic & Paralympic Committee’s Team Behind the Team and will support Team USA in all moments on and off the field,” he said about his latest project.
