Carlo Boszhard finds it very silly that his boss Peter van der Vorst is being blamed for the flopping of RTL Tonight. “There are also a lot of things that are going well!”, says the presenter.
It is an inglorious retreat: RTL 4 boss Peter van der Vorst has been promoted away, leaving the channel with late-night programming in ruins. Arjen Lubach disappoints and the late talk show RTL Tonight has failed not only in terms of content, but also in terms of figures. Whichever way you look at it: Peter doesn’t exactly stop at his peak.
Carlo critical
Carlo Boszhard, who owes the revival of his career as a TV star entirely to Peter, finds it lame that his boss is being blamed for the flop of RTL Tonight, he writes in his Television-column. Ironically, he consistently calls the talk show RTL Late Night. In other words: he has never seen a minute of it.
The loyal presenter writes that the show press questioned him extensively during the premiere of Amsterdamned 2. “’Peter van der Vorst has quit, what do you think, Carlo?’ No, I say, he will get another position, that is something different. ‘Yes, but RTL late night isn’t running, is it?’ There are also a lot of things that are going well!”
New Peter
It’s lame how Peter is being held accountable for this, Carlo thinks. “It’s strange that the media is so attached to RTL late night. That the focus is not on the successes achieved, such as B&B full of love, all summer long.”
“Someone asks if I want to become the new Peter. I have four TV programs a year, play in a musical and have two companies: that seems more than enough to me, I say. And by the way, I owe a lot to Peter.”
Clickbait
All in all, Carlo dutifully stood up for his boss. Very boring of course for an interview in the tabloids. “’Yes, yes, well, enjoy the movie,’ is the answer.”
He concludes: “The journalist seems a bit disappointed that I don’t provide clickbait. And so I dive into part 2 of Amsterdamned.”
