THEhe world of robotics just entered a new era, and it did so with a spectacular kick. Zhao Tongyangthe CEO of EngineAI, tired of the rumors, decided that the only way to demonstrate the authenticity and power of his T800 android was to put it to the test. And the test was… physical.
In the video released onlinethe entrepreneur, protected by padded armor, throws himself at the robot. But it’s the T800 that immediately takes control of the situation: within seconds, the android unleashes a powerful football which throws the manager to the ground without any apparent effort.
The proof against “too perfect to be true”
This shock demonstration is not just marketing, but a direct response to the fierce criticism that accompanied the robot’s launch. The initial videos, in which the T800 performed acrobatic spins and flying kicks, were described by users as «too perfect to be real», fueling accusations of manipulation through CGI (Computer-Generated Imagery).
For the company, this clash in a neutral study is the irrefutable evidence: the direct physical contact between man and machine confirms the real execution and speed of the movements of the robot, eliminating any suspicion of digital manipulation.
A combat robot
Engine AI is a China-based company, founded in 2023. It focuses on research and development of advanced humanoid robots and locomotion control systems. Its goal is to create androids that can precisely emulate human physical power and dexterity, going beyond traditional logistics applications.
The T800173 cm tall and weighing 75 kg, stands out in the panorama of humanoid robotics. While most competitors focus on the industrial sector, EngineAI bets on appearance «combat» of its model, equipped with 29 degrees of freedom in the body. The strategy is to leverage media appeal and entertainment, with the announcement of an upcoming robot fighting tournament, Robot Boxers. An event that promises to redefine the boundaries between technology and high-impact entertainment.
