Von der Leyen and Rutte again express support for Ukraine

In a meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, NATO boss Mark Rutte and EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen once again expressed their support for Ukraine. “While peace talks continue, the EU continues to support Ukraine unabated,” Von der Leyen wrote on X on Monday evening.

The meeting, which took place in Rutte’s official residence, was also attended by António Costa, the chairman of the Council of EU Heads of Government. Rutte spoke of a “good conversation” and said he would again strive for “a just and lasting peace for Ukraine”.

Earlier in the day, Zelensky said he expects to present an amended peace plan to the United States on Tuesday. The American proposals were amended by Russia last week and expanded to 27 points. Zelensky now speaks of 20 points.
