The weather in Catalonia has given a sudden change in the last hours, with a considerable drop in temperatures, gusts of wind and heavy rainfall in much of the Catalan territory.
One of the cities affected by the storm has been Granollers, where there has been an intense hailstorm that has filled the streets with ice. In the capital of Vallès Oriental, the warning threshold for rainfall intensity has been reached, accumulating more than 20 liters per square meter for 30 minutes.
As the afternoon progressed, the showers have been arriving in the eastern part of Catalonia. About seven in the evening, Meteocat has warned of hail in the City of Barcelona, although of a lower intensity than that recorded in Granollers. Similar episodes have also been reported in other parts of the province of Barcelona such as Sant Quirze or Vilassar de Dalt.
Due to the storm, there have been several traffic jams on the roads Catalans throughout the afternoon. Among the most relevant, Trànsit has reported during the most intense moments of the rainfall that the AP-7 had eight kilometers of slow circulation and retentions between La Roca and Montmeló. Two kilometers of queue have also formed in Barberà del Vallès towards Tarragona, although normalcy has soon returned.

For road safety reasons, Trànsit has asked drivers exercise caution on the roadsince rain increases the risk of an accident due to reduced visibility at the wheel and the amount of water on the asphalt.
