On Monday, December 1st, HBO Max in the US added one of the biggest television series of all time to its library: Mad Men. Not only should all seven seasons of the acclaimed series be available to stream. But as HBO pointed out in a press release last month, this would also be the first time Mad Men is available in 4K. Fans would have so “the opportunity to enjoy the series’ authentically designed elements with crisp details and enhanced visual clarity.”
And it’s true. You can really see the “authentically designed elements of the series with clear details.” Though perhaps not quite the way HBO intended.

Visible error in the “Red in the Face” scene
What’s remarkable about this screenshot is that on the right you can clearly see two crew members operating the barf machine behind Slattery. How this got past quality control and ended up on HBO Max remains a mystery. Although, to be fair, one could view it as evidence of the “authentically crafted elements” of “Mad Men.” And yes. You can really see it in “clear details”.
In addition to this error, it also appears that at least some episodes of the first season were mislabeled and released in the wrong order. So if you want to see the Vomit Machine Operators in real time before HBO removes it (it’s still available at the time of publication), you shouldn’t click on the episode labeled “Red in the Face.” It was accidentally dubbed “Babylon.”
A source with knowledge of the situation told ROLLING STONE that “incorrect files were delivered.” The source added that the errors would be corrected. And the correct files would be uploaded “as quickly as possible”.
