Hélène Hendriks finds it ridiculous that Tim Hofman does not apologize for his claims about so-called Hitler greetings from Feyenoord fans. “You have to be so careful with that.”
Tim Hofman has removed an excerpt from his podcast about so-called Hitler greetings from Feyenoord fans. He says he cannot prove that the gestures were anti-Semitic. “Because we were made aware of the intention of the song, and we cannot confirm the intention of the gestures, the fragment is taken from the podcast.”
‘Far too frugal!’
Such an economical correction is not enough, says Hélène Hendriks. “He is not going to apologize! He has made a correction. He had an interview, a podcast, in which he showed images of Feyenoord fans at Stuttgart, where he said they were giving the Hitler salute. So that is not true,” she says in Today Inside.
Scandalous, she thinks. “You have to be very careful with that. A year ago he was also concerned that there was some anti-Semitism within the Feyenoord core. He indicated that, he was working on that, the NRC also reported on it at the time, okay. But this…”
‘Not true!’
Tim must make up for this, Hélène thinks. “You have to think very carefully before you say something like that and I don’t understand why he doesn’t apologize. OK, correct, but you dismiss a whole group as people who give the Hitler salute. It’s not true!”
Colleague Johan Derksen: “What I blame the NRC for, the effectual pursuit, he invented that, didn’t he?”
Hélène concludes: “Those people are singing their song and making that movement, but that is part of the song and it has nothing to do with the Hitler salute.”
