National ice hockey player Moritz Seider suffered the next painful defeat in the NHL play-off race with the Detroit Red Wings.

The team from the state of Michigan lost to the Tampa Bay Lightning 3:6 in their own hall on Friday – with the same result, Detroit had also had to admit defeat to the Nashville Predators two days earlier in the Little Caesars Arena. Overall, it was the third defeat in a row for Seider and Detroit.

Seider remained without a goal. The Red Wings are only slightly behind outside of the playoff places, but their direct competition has played fewer games in some cases. Division rivals Boston Bruins are just ahead of Detroit, but coach Marco Sturm’s team also left the ice as losers on Friday: they lost 6-2 to the New York Rangers, and Sturm had to do without his entire first line of attackers at short notice.

Matej Blümel had to leave the ice injured in last Wednesday’s win over the New York Islanders (3-1), and his Czech compatriots David Pastrnak and Pavel Zacha also had to miss on Friday. Sturm announced this before the game without giving any details.

The Bruins and the Red Wings meet in Boston on Saturday evening.
