In set two we saw another visiting team, the same players, but with a better level. Offensively they started to score more and they also hurt Roeselare in storage. The scoreboard remained balanced for almost the entire set and we entered an exciting ending.

Menen got no fewer than six set balls, but if you can’t finish one, you will be punished. At 31-30, Pieter Coolman, in the starting line-up for the first time this season, ensures a second set win for Knack with a kill block.

A downer for the visitors, but Menen does not give up. The teams remain evenly matched in set three, until Roeselare pushes the throttle at 18-18. It runs out three points and then doesn’t give away anymore. The national champion wins 3-0 and takes the lead from Menen, the difference in the standings is now one point in favor of Roeselare.

Next weekend, Knack can defend its leading position on the Guibertin field, while Menen will host Brabo Antwerp at home.
