Sprint star has become mother of a son

Mujinga Kambundji can usually be found on the tartan track. But in the coming months she will dedicate herself to her new role as a mother.
The Swiss Mujinga Kambundji holds the national record in the 60, 100 and 200 meters. However, the sprint star cannot be found on the tartan track at the moment. Because: The 33-year-old has become the mother of a son. Kambundji shared the good news on Instagram.
In one snapshot, an adult hand can be seen tenderly holding the tiny hand of a newborn – the infant is lying in a baby crib in a bright romper. Kambundji wrote: “Welcome, Baby Léon. Everyone is doing very well and in excellent health. We are incredibly grateful and enjoying these precious first moments together.”
Germany’s sprint ace Gina Brückenkemper also commented on the photo: “Congratulations. And welcome, little one.” Ski racer and Olympic champion Corinne Suter also wrote: “Oh how beautiful. Congratulations.”
Kambundji finished third in the 200 meters at the 2019 World Championships and won bronze. Her sister Ditaji Kambundji became world champion in the 100 meter hurdles in September.
