The specialized animal rescue team from the Westhoek Fire Department arrived on site to remove the animal from the stream. A cow easily weighs 600 kg, so the liberation was done with a crane and lifting straps around the animal. During the rescue operation, Aarsdamstraat was closed to traffic in both directions.
Also often out for pigs
The animal rescue team must go out at least once a week to rescue animals. This usually concerns pigs that have fallen into a manure pit under the roasting system, but sometimes it also concerns cows that have ended up in the water.
