Hans-Joachim Watzke is no longer chairman of the BVB management board, but rather president. The Presidential Committee has appointed a successor: Carsten Cramer will be the new management spokesman.
Hans-Joachim Watzke was CEO of Borussia Dortmund for twenty years. He has been President of BVB since November 23rd. A new boss has now been appointed: Carsten Cramer.
After Watzke’s departure as chairman of the BVB management board, Cramer will become the new management spokesman. The club announced this on Wednesday afternoon. The decision was made by the Presidential Committee. In the future, Cramer will be responsible for the areas of strategy, communication, marketing, sales, digitalization and internationalization.
Svenja Schlenker will also become Managing Director for Human Resources. She is therefore stepping down from her current position as works council chairwoman. The club said: “She will continue to be responsible for girls’ and women’s football at BVB.”
Cramer says of his new task: “It fills me with joy and pride to be able to represent BVB in such a prominent role in the future. It drives me that we are tackling a successful black and yellow future together and with maximum ambition with a highly motivated team.”
Schlenker is also pleased: “Borussia Dortmund is not only a special club, but also a great employer. I have been working for BVB for almost two decades, and in my role as chairwoman of the works council, it has always been important to me that there is a good and trusting atmosphere between the company and its employees. This will also be my goal as a member of the management team in the future.”
She emphasizes: “And at the same time, it continues to be my motivation and that of all of us to continue the successful development of women’s football.”
Watzke wishes the duo all the best: “Svenja Schlenker and Carsten Cramer have earned their trust through outstanding work over the past few years. Thomas Treß and Lars Ricken have also been constants in our success for many years. I am convinced that Borussia Dortmund is very well positioned for the future with this new management constellation.” Treß continues to be responsible for finance, organization, legal and investor relations.
