The Olympic flame has begun its journey towards the Milan-Cortina 2026 Winter Games. The bad weather that hit western Greece forced organizers to move the torch lighting ceremony indoors, from the ancient stadium and temples of Olympia, to the Archaeological Museum. The first torchbearer, Greek rower Petros Gaidatzis, kicked off the torch relay which, after reaching Italy, will be carried through the host country by around 10,000 runners ahead of the competitions to be held from 6 to 22 February. At the accession ceremony, the Minister of Sport for Sport and Youth, Andrea Abodi, and the delegation of the Milano Cortina 2026 Foundation, led by President Giovanni Malagò, with the Olympians Stefania Belmondo and Armin Zoeggeler.
