In addition to his entrepreneurship, Nieminen was known as the owner of some dogs. Nieminen’s most famous dogs were Bono and Pertti, who was known on social media as Pertti Perseilevä Labrador retriever. Nieminen told Hämeen Sanom in 2020 about the birth of the dog’s additional name.

The dog Pertti died of lymph node cancer in the fall of 2022. The dog had 38 thousand followers on Instagram and 86 thousand followers on Facebook. In addition to social work, Pertti volunteered as a cadaver dog, i.e. searching for missing people at the request of their relatives, when the authorities had ended the active search.
