The last Nerazzurri success against Milan, Juve or Napoli dates back to 22 April 2024, in the derby which sealed the victory of the scudetto. Then only defeats and draws

November 24 – 11.35am – MILAN

If it were “who wants to be a millionaire?” we would already be at the last question: “But what happens to Inter during the big matches?”. Difficult answers. If we take the three rivals – Juventus, Milan and Napoli -, the Nerazzurri haven’t won for more than a year. The trend that began last season continues unabated: three defeats out of three. The defeat against Milan, which came after taking two woodwork and missing a penalty, adds to those achieved against Allianz and Maradona.

the problem

This year – if we consider those above and their historic rivals – Inter have only beaten Roma at the Olimpico. The only big match won by Chivu, who took on a disappointed, devastated team, weakened by a Champions League final lost 5-0 and by a championship that slipped away on the last day. The “psychologist” version of Cristian, the one who once said “this team needed to be helped”, is ready to put his coat back on and dust off the reasons for the old problems. Last year Inter picked up one point against Milan (a draw and a knockout, not counting the two defeats between the Super Cup and the Italian Cup), two against Napoli and one against Juve. No victory. He scored six goals in two games against Atalanta, another six against Lazio at the Olimpico and so on, but in big matches of a certain type he failed. And this year the course has not changed. “We must improve the perception of danger – Chivu reiterated in the press room -, I saw an attentive team, but it wasn’t enough”. The defeats require analysis: against Milan the Nerazzurri lost twice in comebacks – the first leg in the championship and the Super Cup – and another badly (3-0 in the semi-final second leg of the Italian Cup).

the coincidence

Inter’s last success against one of Milan, Napoli and Juve dates back to 22 April 2024. The second star derby. The 2-1 which sealed the victory of the twentieth championship at the expense of their rivals. A sort of small Bela Guttmann curse that hangs over the heads of the Inter fans, also made stronger by cabal and coincidences: Calhanoglu missed his second penalty in the same goal, at the same minute and more or less in the same way as last year. From Naples to Milan. That was also the twelfth day. Lucky – and certainly more serene – are those who don’t believe these things.
