FC St. Pauli is currently experiencing a bad series of defeats. The coach probably doesn’t have to worry about his job for the time being.
The sporting crisis at FC St. Pauli continues to worsen – but Alexander Blessin remains the coach of the Bundesliga club. Even after the eighth defeat in a row, the club is supporting its coach. “There is no speculation at all. He is our coach,” said President Ole Göttlich on DAZN after the 0-1 (0-1) draw against Union Berlin.
St. Pauli had never suffered eight Bundesliga defeats in a row before. With just seven points from eleven games, Hamburg are currently in 16th place in the relegation zone. The away game against league leaders Bayern Munich follows next Saturday. So far this season, Borussia Mönchengladbach, VfL Wolfsburg and Bayer Leverkusen have changed coaches.
Coach Blessin was visibly disappointed after the game: “If you have shit on your heels, then you have shit on your heels.” However, he didn’t blame his team: “We tried everything, we threw everything into it. We have to help ourselves now.”
He “doesn’t take himself so seriously,” he says he has “a responsibility and won’t give up.” For the game in Munich, Blessin announced: “We’re going there to annoy Bayern.”
