Surgery necessary

The season is probably over early for Bence Dárdai. The 19-year-old VfL Wolfsburg midfielder suffered a torn cruciate ligament in his left knee and required surgery. The club confirmed this on Sunday afternoon. The Lower Saxony company did not provide any information about the exact downtime; normally it is expected to be around six months.
“This is not an easy situation, especially for a young player like Bence. We will support him as best we can. We wish him all the best for the operation and the subsequent healing process,” VfL sports director Peter Christiansen is quoted as saying.
Dárdai was used as a substitute in three games this season and had already missed the last two games with knee problems. The three-time Hungarian international is said to have suffered the injury during training at the beginning of November, the day after the 2-3 defeat against TSG Hoffenheim.
