‘Not for fat bikes and other e-bikes’, reads yellow signs near a cycle path in the new Weespersluis district in Weesp. That cycle path runs through a park where many children play and that creates dangerous situations. A project developer installed the signs after complaints from residents, but according to the municipality, this is not officially allowed. Still, it raises the question: is banning e-bikes in residential areas a good idea or patronizing?
