The Beast in Me is currently the most watched and commented thriller series on Netflix. Especially when it comes to the ending which follows a sequence of electrifying twists, and that it leaves open questions about evilon emotional inheritance and on how darkness can lurk in anyone.

The Beast in Me on Netflix: the recap of the episodes of the series

Aggie Wiggs (Claire Danes), still a successful writer Traumatized by the death of her son, she lives isolated and without inspiration. The arrival of the new neighbor, Nile Jarvis (Matthew Rhys)a very rich and charismatic man – but surrounded by disturbing rumors about the disappearance of his first wife Madison – immediately attracts his attention. Aggie thus decides to write a book about him and an ambiguous relationship is born between the twomarked by attraction, distrust and psychological manipulation.

Investigating Nile’s life, Aggie discovers contradictions, family secrets and a potentially violent past. Also Nina Jarvis (Brittany Snow), Nile’s current wife, suggests to the writer a deep fearfueling further suspicions. Plus, the closer Aggie gets to the truth, the more they start to happen strange episodes that seem designed to intimidate her.

The border between research, obsession and danger becomes increasingly thinner and, in the meantime, Aggie gathers new evidence about Nile’s past: his family’s dirty dealings, cover-ups orchestrated by a mysterious uncle and a “recurring pattern” of violence disguised as incidents. In fact, strange deaths follow one another and the woman decides to face Nile to finally ask him to account whether or not he killed more than just Madison but also the other people who were investigating him.

Is Nile Jarvis really a murderer? The explanation of the ending (spoiler)

The last two episodes of the series are a succession of twists which really leave you breathless. Nina, Nile’s second wife, secretly records a confession from her husband which he finally admits his responsibility for Madison’s death and on other dark episodes. The man he is finally arrested and sentenced to life imprisonment for a series of crimes.

One day Aggie visits him in prison. The two talk for three hours, and at one point Aggie realizes that, despite having no direct fault, she has somehow fueled Nile’s monstrosity with her obsession for the truth, “pushing” him to kill again to prevent the truth about the death of his first wife from being discovered.

Shortly after, Nile is killed in prison on his uncle’s orders, definitively closing the narrative arc. This is the explanation of the ending of The Beast in Me but one question remains: What will happen now in Aggie’s mind?
