Germany is applying to host the Women’s European Championship in 2029. The chances of being awarded the contract have now increased again.

In the race to host the Women’s European Championship in 2029, the DFB has one less competitor: Portugal has withdrawn its application. The Portuguese association FPF announced this on Monday. The statement said they wanted to concentrate fully on organizing the 2030 Men’s World Cup. Portugal is hosting this tournament together with Spain, Morocco, Argentina, Paraguay and Uruguay.

Italy had already withdrawn from the application process in August. This means there are still three applicants left in the race for the European Championship in four years: the German Football Association, Poland’s association and the joint duo from Denmark and Sweden. The decision as to who will be awarded the contract will be made on December 3rd – then the UEFA Executive Committee meets.

If the DFB prevails, Dortmund, Düsseldorf, Frankfurt, Hanover, Cologne, Leipzig, Munich and Wolfsburg would be planned as venues.
