SC Magdeburg’s fantastic series in the group stage of the Champions League continues. In Zagreb, the Green-Reds gave the hosts no chance and achieved their eighth win in the eighth group game. Returnee Matthias Musche played a brilliant game in the 43:35 win.
Both teams found it difficult to score at the beginning, and after five minutes they only had two goals (1:1/5th). The game then accelerated and the SCM gained three goals (7:4/12.). Magdeburg always managed to score goals, especially through the wing Tim Hornke and the recovered Matthias Musche. At halftime, the guests from the Elbe were already eight goals ahead.
Even after the break, the game needed some time to get going again. The SCM was a bit sloppy in its conclusion, but nothing changed in the fundamental balance of power. Magdeburg consistently punished the Croatians’ mistakes and extended their lead to nine goals. A quarter of an hour before the end, Sebastian Barthold replaced Musche, but Magdeburg remained consistent, did not switch into administration mode and won confidently. The guests’ best thrower was Matthias Musche with eleven hits.
