At the time, Ghelamco transported hundreds of thousands of cubic meters of land to build a new golf course on these lands in Knokke-Heist. Later, part of the soil turned out to be contaminated with PFAS. That soil will now be removed before the end of the year.
The mayor emphasizes that the contaminated soil poses no danger to the food forest that is being planted nearby. The plans for the golf course are on hold for the time being.
