The number of damage reports after the earthquake in Zeerijp continues to rise considerably. On Monday, the Mining Damage Institute Groningen (IMG) known that since November 14, the day of the earthquake in Zeerijp, 1,653 damage reports have been received.

Although no gas has been extracted from the large Groningen gas field since April 2024, the nighttime earthquake in Zeerijp was one of the heaviest ever measured in the region. Gas is still extracted from smaller fields in Groningen, Drenthe and the Wadden Sea.

Of the damage reports received on Monday afternoon, 947 came from the so-called ‘effect area’: the area where this earthquake caused a vibration speed of 2 millimeters per second. In response to the 52 acute reports, the Institute carried out 33 inspections. Measures have been taken in six reports.
