“Give him Ruben Nicolai’s shows!”

Martijn Krabbé has less and less to do at RTL 4 now that Postponement of Execution is ending after The Voice. Weekend boss Bart Ettekoven makes a disguised appeal to give him Ruben Nicolai’s shows.

For a long time, The Voice of Holland was seen as the most important program of RTL 4, of which Martijn Krabbé was the central presenter. After stopping The Voice due to transgressive behavior, the presenter now also loses his TV classic Deferral of Execution. The program ends after fourteen seasons.

Lower ratings

A logical decision, says Albert Verlinde. He says in Show news: “It is a wonderful program, but you could see that the viewer’s attention was slightly less. (…) The viewing figures have been a bit less lately. The title seemed to apply to the program itself by now.”

He continues: “It was something in which Martijn Krabbé was doing incredibly well. He can do that like no other. After The Voice, it is again a program that is well looked at and which fits him like a glove, but which he has to say goodbye to. Within RTL, of course, there is talk about new formulas for him, but it is a pity.”

‘Too little Martin’

Weekend boss Bart Ettekoven believes that Martijn is not valued enough by RTL 4. “It is a pity that if this program also disappears, there will be very little to see. RTL could make much more use of him, right?”

Albert: “Yes, but of course this is unexpected, isn’t it? Not that this will stop, you know that, but nobody could predict that The Voice would disappear. So as a channel you should have a look: we had divided all the figures and suddenly Martijn is there. As far as I’m concerned, Martijn is the comeback kid incarnate, because it is very often that you thought: that was Martijn, but then another fantastic formula came along. That will come again now.”

Martijn vs Ruben

Photographer William Rutten: “As far as I’m concerned, it is by far the best presenter in the Netherlands.

Albert: “I really hope there will be studio shows.”

Bart Ettekoven then makes a disguised appeal to TV boss Peter van der Vorst to award TV jobs intended for Ruben Nicolai to Martijn. “He could do fantastically with the programs that Ruben Nicolai now often gets from RTL.”

suckling pig

Tooske Ragas after Bart’s comment: “I think they watched again.”

Albert: “Hahaha. Peter van der Vorst sits like a screaming suckling pig in front of the tube, like: how are we going to do this?”
