Said El Mala leaves before the national team game against Slovakia and joins the U21s. They will face Georgia in the important qualifying game.
For young star Said El Mala, the national team adventure is over. The 19-year-old traveled to the German U21s in Herzogenaurach on Saturday after returning from Luxembourg, where he had not played in the 2-0 win the day before.
He will fly with the DFB team to Tbilisi on Sunday, where the important European Championship qualifier against Georgia will take place two days later. El Mala played his first four international matches for the U21s in September and October, which is still three points behind Greece in the fight for the direct European Championship ticket.
Nagelsmann can rely on Adeyemi again
National coach Julian Nagelsmann called the Cologne native into his squad for the first time for the World Cup qualifier in Luxembourg. Also because Nagelsmann can rely on Dortmund’s Karim Adeyemi, who was recently suspended, in the decisive game for the World Cup ticket against Slovakia on Monday in Leipzig, El Mala now travels on. Leipzig’s Assan Ouédraogo (19), who is also eligible to play for the U21, remains with the senior national team.
