Germany meets Luxembourg in the World Cup qualifiers. Returnee Leroy Sané should also ensure creativity on the offensive. Waldemar Anton gets a chance in defense.

Julian Nagelsmann gives his “eternal” problem child Leroy Sané another chance to prove himself in the German national soccer team’s groundbreaking World Cup qualifier against Luxembourg.

The Turkish legionnaire is in the starting line-up at the sold-out Stade de Luxembourg, as is Dortmund’s Waldemar Anton, representing the ailing Nico Schlotterbeck. In front of goalkeeper Oliver Baumann, Leipzig’s Ridle Baku will take over the right-back position as a replacement for the slightly injured captain Joshua Kimmich (ankle), as announced by national coach Nagelsmann.

Tah is captain in Kimmich’s absence

The captain’s armband is worn by Jonathan Tah, alongside whom Dortmund’s Anton plays in the center of defence. On the left is David Raum. Bayern professionals Leon Goretzka and Aleksandar Pavlovic form the control center in midfield. The offensive trident consists of Sané, his long-time Munich teammate Serge Gnabry and Florian Wirtz. Nick Woltemade takes on the role of striker.

The German lineup: Baumann – Baku, Tah, Anton, Raum – Goretzka, Pavlovic – Sané, Gnabry, Wirtz – Woltemade – Coach: Nagelsmann
