Wall Street recovered some of the heavy losses in the evening, but closed lower. The Dow Jones ended 780 points lower. Analysts see fear returning after the shutdown now that investors are receiving data about the US economy again. Tech stocks went on sale, defensive stocks were sought out. The AEX closed with a loss of 0.7 percent.
