According to Himpe, the reporting about the possible abolition of the low-emission zones causes a lot of confusion. “Many people think that they will soon no longer need an environmental vignette. But clear information is difficult to find — even on the official websites, such as the one for applying for the vignette, it remains unclear,” it says.
There was also confusion when the environmental sticker was introduced at the beginning of 2025. Himpe then worked together with the Eurometropolis Lille-Kortrijk-Tournai, with the support of the Dutch ANWB, to produce a Dutch-language version of the official application form to obtain. Initially it was only available in French, English and German.
