Exit clause for summer 2026

Robert Lewandowski’s contract with FC Barcelona ends in the summer, which is why the Catalans are looking for a successor. According to the English “Guardian” and “Sport” from Spain, the Spanish champions have identified Harry Kane from FC Bayern as a priority to succeed the 37-year-old Pole. Barça could make use of Kane’s release clause, which is valid in 2026 – but a departure seems unlikely.
Kane, for whom Bayern paid Tottenham €95 million in the summer of 2023, is in outstanding form this season. In 17 competitive games he scored 23 goals and prepared three more. Recently there has been speculation about Kane returning to England, as he has a release clause of €65 million in the summer of 2026. This would make the Englishman, who will turn 33 at the end of July, the second most expensive over-32 player in history (statistics).
As early as 2022, Barça used Bayern’s attack. Lewandowski moved to the Catalans for 45 million euros with one year left on his contract and has since won two Spanish championships and scored 108 goals in 159 games. It is unclear what will happen next for the Polish attacker in the summer, as there have not yet been any discussions about a new contract. “I’m in no rush. In the end, the most important thing is how I feel. At the moment I don’t have to think about my future. A lot can happen. I’m very happy and focused on the season,” said Lewandowski.
Kane’s working paper in Munich is valid until 2027, but at the beginning of October the Englishman was open to an extension. “As far as staying beyond that, I can definitely imagine that,” he said. “I said a few weeks ago that these discussions with Bayern have not yet taken place. But if they come, I would be ready to talk about it and have an honest conversation.”
Should Kane decide to transfer to FC Barcelona, he would be the fourth Bayern professional to go this route. In addition to Lewandowski, Arturo Vidal in 2018 and Patrik Andersson in 2001 also left Munich for Catalonia. Four players moved from Barça to Säbener Straße: Philippe Coutinho (2019), Thiago Alcántara (2013), Mark van Bommel (2006) and Mark Hughes (1987).
