The shooting happened around 10:50 a.m. on Wieringerstraat. Local residents were startled by several explosions and alerted the police, who found the man on the street shortly afterwards.
Although he was initially able to speak, he died a short time later in hospital from his injuries. The victim is a 56-year-old man from Almere, known to the police. “The investigation team is working hard to clarify the reason for and the exact circumstances of the shooting incident,” the police said.
Black hat
Witnesses said the gunman is a man about 20 years old and six feet tall, wearing a black blouse, jeans and a black hat. The police like to get in touch with people who have heard or seen something remarkable.
