Norway national player Andreas Schjelderup will soon be in court. He has now spoken about his illegal act in front of the national team.
Since Schjelderup was called up for the national team to play the World Cup qualifiers this week, he spoke about his actions in front of the team.
Patrick Berg reported this to the Norwegian public broadcaster NRK. “Everyone is aware that it is a serious mistake. But I think he did the right thing by admitting and acknowledging the mistake,” said the midfielder.
Norway coach Ståle Solbakken said before Thursday’s game against Estonia: “There is no question that this was incredibly stupid behavior by one of our young players. I am glad that he has made it so clear that he regrets what happened and that he has cooperated well with the Danish authorities.”
Sander Berge, who plays for FC Fulham, also said about Schjelderup when speaking to the Norwegian national team: “He stood up in front of the group and solved the situation very well with an adult explanation. You could tell that he had been through a difficult time and that it had taken a lot out of him.”
The national coach added: “He has confessed to the incidents of two years ago and is bearing the consequences. I am firmly convinced that he has learned from it and will never do anything like that again.”
