After the derby between Borussia Mönchengladbach and 1. FC Cologne, according to “Fanhilfe Köln”, there were injuries among the Cologne supporters. “Unfortunately, there were very unpleasant scenes in the guest block before kick-off,” the statement said. The entrance to the fan block was temporarily blocked. “The resulting rush at the entrance and inadequate personnel planning led to heavy crowding in which several people were injured.”

In addition, the fan aid, which belongs to Südkurve 1. FC Köln eV, reported: “We subsequently received messages from numerous FC fans who complained that the police had intervened too harshly.” Fan Aid called on those affected, eyewitnesses and those who had photos and images to come forward. “We will examine in the coming days what legal steps are possible to subject the operation to judicial review.”

While Geißbockheim will be quiet from Wednesday with five days off from training, three professionals from 1. FC Köln will be fighting for World Cup qualification. Said El Mala, nominated for the first time, has to defend the lead in Group A with the German national team in Luxembourg (November 14th) and against Slovakia (November 17th). For Isak Johannesson and Jakub Kaminski, it could come down to participation in the playoffs.

Kaminski’s Poland sit second in Group G, three points behind leaders Netherlands. The selection led by captain Robert Lewandowski will first face the Dutch in the final games (November 14th) and then travel to bottom team Malta (November 17th).

For Johannesson and Iceland it’s about conquering second place in Group D. There are two away games against Azerbaijan (November 13th) and Ukraine (November 16th). Iceland is currently third in the table, three points behind Ukraine. If the Ukrainians lose to leaders France on Thursday and Iceland wins at the same time in Azerbaijan, Johannesson & Co. would be enough for second place in a direct duel on the last matchday – thanks to the better goal difference.

Despite his long injury break, Rav van den Berg is in the Dutch U21 national team squad. The central defender, who suffered a sprained shoulder joint in Wolfsburg on September 13th, was nominated for the European Championship qualifying games against Slovenia (November 14th) and Israel (November 18th).
