Former politician and proud Geert Versnick (68) will receive a funeral on Saturday at the Westlede crematorium in Lochristi, East Flanders. Versnick died on Saturday evening from lung cancer. He leaves a big impression in Ghent: as a passionate liberal, as a reformer of the Public Social Welfare Center and as a politician who once submitted the very first bill for gay marriage.
