Light art festival GLOW is not only popular in Eindhoven. GLOW is also well attended in the surrounding villages and towns, where the festival takes place. “We had seen an advertisement from previous years, and we thought it was so fantastic,” say two Belgians who came all the way to Oirschot.
This year the festival will take place not only in Eindhoven, but also in Veldhoven, Oirschot, Best, Helmond and Lieshout. “We have been coming here for Halloween for a few years now, and now we wanted to do this. It is really beautiful and fun,” say the two Belgians. in return for Studio040. Visitors from Tilburg find GLOW a good fit for Oirschot.
“It is very fairytale-like. The lights in combination with such a historic center work very well. It is beautiful,” says a father who walks the route with his children. Another father adds: “It is also less busy here, which makes it easier to walk around with your children.”
“It’s nice to be outside for a while, with the beautiful colors and the good atmosphere.”
The opening weekend of GLOW was well attended in Eindhoven. It was busy in the center. It was quieter in the peripheral municipalities. This was an advantage for many visitors. Such as for a couple from Best.
“It’s not as crowded here as in Eindhoven. If you want to go there on the first evening, you can really join in. It’s still nice and quiet here. Then we’ll go to the center at another time.”

Since 2023, GLOW has gone beyond the city limits of Eindhoven. It attracts people from far outside the region, but it is also nice for the people who live there to have it nearby.
The couple from Best also thinks so: “You meet people you know and can have a nice chat. You are outside for a while, with beautiful colors and a good atmosphere. Hopefully it will continue to grow here too.”
There are ten works of art on display in both Oirschot and Best. One of this year’s crowd pullers is in Best: the performance Spiritus in the Sint-Odulphus Church. It is a light show with music that lasts about twenty minutes. A woman from Den Bosch is waiting.
“That was a really nice show last year, so I expect it to be very nice again this time,” she hopes. “GLOW is always so enchanting. It’s like being a child again.”

GLOW in Best, Oirschot, Veldhoven and Lieshout can be visited until November 15. Every evening from half past seven to ten o’clock. In Eindhoven and Helmond, the light artworks remain on until eleven at night.
