Javier Milei published a photo on Instagram in which he shows five copies of the same book about him, each one in a different language. In the image you can see the editions in Spanish, Portuguese, French, Italian and German, and the President accompanied the post with his usual phrase: “NEIGHBORHOOD PHENOMENON. VLLC!” The scene seeks to highlight the international dissemination of his figure and his economic ideas.
The book is “The Milei era: Argentine liberalism in the battle of ideas”, by the German economist Philipp Bagus. Professor at the Rey Juan Carlos University of Madrid, Bagus is a reference for the Austrian school of economics, a current that Milei claims as the basis of his thinking. The author became known for his texts on monetary theory, defense of the free market and criticism of state interventionism.
In this work, Bagus traces Milei’s political rise, his arrival to power as an outsider and the liberal turn he promotes for Argentina. He presents it as a disruptive phenomenon that managed to place ideas that for decades circulated in academic margins and minority forums at the center of public debate. He also highlights his use of social networks, the confrontational tone and the construction of an “anti-caste” identity as pillars of his leadership.
According to the book, the Argentine case under Milei will be observed globally as an experiment that will test the practical application of the Austrian school in state management. The photo that the President released, showing the translations, reinforces that narrative: Milei positions himself not only as a local political figure, but as an international reference for contemporary liberalism.
With this post, Milei once again relies on his intellectual profile and the support of foreign economists, showing how his political career is projected beyond Argentina.
