Gladbach’s captain Tim Kleindienst is probably close to his comeback. He recently signed a new contract – the sports director has now commented on the details.
Borussia captain Tim Kleindienst recently extended his contract with Bundesliga club Mönchengladbach long-term. The new agreement does not contain an exit clause – sports director Rouven Schröder made this clear on Sunday in the “one-two” on Sport1. The extension was made “without” a clause, said Schröder briefly.
Even before the derby against 1. FC Köln (3:1), Gladbach had announced the extension until 2029. Schröder said: “It’s been clear for a long time. We deliberately chose the time before the derby because it gives us another boost. It was also important to us to send the signal that he is extending his contract in a difficult phase and is committed to the club.”
The 30-year-old is about to make a comeback after a knee injury. Schröder explained: “We hope in the next two or three weeks.” The attacker should first “acclimatize slowly from the bench”. But it is important that “the opposing coach can think about it because there is a Tim Kleindienst in the lineup.”
Schröder also announced activities on the transfer market for the winter. Due to limited financial possibilities, a loan is conceivable. Schröder: “We don’t have that much available, but that’s not a bad thing. Then you might have to think about a very, very creative loan, where quality is above all else and the players also recognize: Okay, he’ll take us further.”
