Alemannia Aachen has found a successor for the dismissed Benedetto Muzzicato. Mersad Selimbegovic takes over as coach at table 15. the 3rd league. The 43-year-old signed a contract until June 30, 2027. The former Regensburg and Rostock trainer was last on the sidelines at KAS Eupen last season. He averaged 1.1 points in 30 games.
“Mersad is a very ambitious head coach who knows how to build something from a structured team step by step. From clear, structured football to convincing playful performances. In particular, he has shown during his stints that he takes the entire club with him, develops players individually and has a clear eye for the young talent. We are very pleased that he has chosen Alemannia Aachen,” said sports director Rachid Azzouzi.
Selimbegovic added: “I immediately felt that the idea of playing and working methods was very similar on both sides. Alemannia Aachen is an emotional football club that I can identify with – I can hardly wait to experience the special atmosphere at the Tivoli myself. Now I’m looking forward to getting started with the team, getting to know the people in the club and building something together.”
