After a long wait, the Gen4 becomes reality. In fact, it was officially revealed electric single-seater fastest ever made in the history of Formula E, a concentration of innovation, maximum performance, advanced aerodynamics and sustainability. But to see it in action you will have to wait a little longer. After the official presentation, the Gen4 finally enters the testing phase with the official manufacturers of the electric series world championship: Porsche, Nissan, Stellantis, Jaguar And Lola. They will be the ones to transfer their skills in powertrain development and energy management to calibrate and push the car’s performance to the maximum in view of the imminent debut in the 2026/27 season. Jeff DoddsCEO of Formula E said: “The Gen4 is much more than a racing car. It represents more than ten years of progress, innovation and ambition in electric racing. Developed together with Fia (the International Automobile Federation, ed), is the most advanced, demanding and sustainable machine never builtredefining the limits of what is possible on environmental performance and responsibility. With Gen4, Formula E consolidates its position as the most innovative sport in the world and a true pioneer of motor racing.”

The characteristics of the new single-seater

The Gen4 single-seater exudes over 815 HP. 50% more powerful than the Gen3, it boasts permanent all-wheel drive and active differential. Two configurations aerodynamic: high downforcehigh load, optimized for qualifications; low downforcelow load, developed for racing and capable of offering performance between the curbs never seen before in Formula E. The single-seater reaches a maximum power in the race of 612 HP (450 kW) and 815 HP (600 kW) in mode attack modewhen the driver activates more power for a period of time to try to overtake those in front. While, the regenerative braking of 951 HP (700 kW), combined with the extended energy capacity of up to 55 kWh, will allow for more ambitious and compelling racing strategies. For Vincent Gaillardottechnical manager of Formula E for the FIA: “The Gen4 is the most advanced Formula E car ever made, with cutting-edge technology that makes it the fastest and most powerful electric racing car fans have ever seen. With over 815 HP available in attack modepermanent all-wheel drive, advanced aerodynamics and more grip thanks to larger tyres, the Gen4 is placed at the top of the tire pyramid Fia single-seater and it will be one of the highest performance racing cars in the world.”

The sustainability of Gen4

The result of a circular design, the Gen4 is built with materials 100% recyclable and 20% recycled. There are new generation battery systems, advanced tyres, more innovative aerodynamic and bodywork solutions. Every single component of the supply chain of Gen4 is a layer selected based on traceability, recyclability and reduced environmental impact.
