And it’s not just a question of style: for women, in fact, having tidy hair is a factor essential to be more confident, have more confidence, and face the days and challenges in the best possible way. Hair therefore becomes a symbol of female empowerment. As highlighted by research conducted by Alter Ego Italy.

Hair, a symbol of female power and self-esteem

What relationship do women have with their hair? How important are they in telling us about ourselves to the world? The Italian hair care brand Alter Ego Italy asked itself this question with the help of AstraRicerche. And the results are very clear. For the women involved, aged 18 to 70, ptaking care of your hair is not just a factor of vanity, but above all a question of self-confidence.

In fact, 87% of those interviewed stated that true beauty is not a question of physical appearance but of self-confidence. It is no coincidence that 83% believe there should be perfect harmony between the external and internal image. This balance gives women confidence, thus making them fascinating and beautiful.

In this context, hair plays a fundamental role: according to 61% of those interviewed, it helps to better express one’s personality, while 78% believe that a new cut or a change in color are often a sign of a new phase in one’s life, of renewal or self-affirmation. Hair evolves with us, telling us about ourselves, like a sort of diary that everyone can readand which showcase the changes.

The fundamental role of the hairdresser

In the relationship between women and hair, a fundamental figure takes over, that of the hairdresser. For this reason, 68% of the interviewees, even if they only go to the salon once a year, have their trusted address. The hairstylist is in fact able to understand women, and, for 72%, manages to translate personality and feelings into new hair looks. On the contrary, 71% specified that their hairdresser would even be able to grasp hidden desires.

UOne woman in four responded to the questionnaire by stating that she doesn’t feel like herself with the wrong haircuteven complaining about the discomfort. Confirming how an aesthetic element like hair has more than an emotional implication.
