NHL player stole over $50,000

NHL player Arthur Kaliyev24, ex-girlfriend Lauren Mochen22, claims the hockey player stole more than $50,000 from him for sports betting.

Mochen began to suspect Kaliyev’s actions in the summer of 2023, when the couple was supposed to go on vacation to the Bahamas. A month before the trip, the attacker asked Mochen to cash $7,500 worth of checks that the man had reportedly received from his family.

Kaliyev asked the woman to transfer the money to his account, and Mochen did as instructed. Shortly after the operation, the woman’s phone started ringing.

– The bank called me and said: “You have cashed three fraudulent checks. Who are they from? Why did you do this?'” Mochen recalls to the New York Post.

However, according to Mochen, he had already transferred the money to Kaliyev’s account, which is why her own account was suddenly $7,000 in the red.

Mochen told the New York Post that Kaliyev owes his former teammates with the Los Angeles Kings large sums of money.

When the woman tried to question Kaliyev about a possible gambling problem, the man became furious with her, according to Mochen.

– Every time I brought up playing, he lost his temper. If it happened face to face, I got punched in the face. He yelled at me that I’m trash, that I’m messed up, and that he wishes I were dead. He hopes the car runs over me. All this just because I asked if he was playing, Mochen says.

Kaliyev had told Mochen that the NHL player’s parents would take all his money. They reportedly had the right to Kaliyev’s account. According to Kiekkiolija, the parents were also physically violent and involved in criminal activities.

However, The New York Post has not received confirmation of Kaliyev’s family claims. The man himself has not agreed to comment on the case to the newspaper.

After his suspicions, Mochen had contacted Kaliyev’s sister Elvina to Kalieva22, who is an American tennis professional. The sister had said that their parents were strict with their children when it came to sports.

According to Kalieva, the parents had also taken over Kaliyev’s bank account.

– It was because he wasted all the money. My mother had argued with him about it for a long time, but I did not know that the situation was so bad, the sister had written to Mochen.

Mochen told his accusations for the first time in September with Tiktok videos.

The NHL and the NHLPA have investigated the allegations, but according to The New York Post, they found no evidence that Kaliyev violated their rules.

Kaliyev has played only two games for the Ottawa Senators this season. Currently, he plays for the club’s farm team, Belleville Senators, in the AHL.

In addition to Ottawa and the Los Angeles Kings, the attacker has also played for the New York Rangers. Kaliyev has 204 NHL games under his belt and 76 points (38+38).
