Ineke Ruiter, from the diaconate of the Reformed Church in Andijk, is the driving force behind the fundraising campaign. With the Ukrainian Lana Sorokun, she has now sent around 350 kilos of stuff to Ukraine. People donate warm clothes, microwaves, ovens, medical kits, hygiene products, diapers and much more.

Ukrainian families

The aid is intended for both Ukrainian soldiers and families who have had to leave their homes due to the war. Support is also provided to people who have lost their homes and belongings due to Russian shelling.

“We also saw photos of really old people in poverty,” says Ineke. “So we are also collecting incontinence material, for example, which is very much needed. It is so poignant when you see that.”
