VfL supervisory board discussed

In view of the ongoing sporting crisis, discussions and speculation about personnel consequences at VfL Wolfsburg are increasing. It’s not just about the hitherto hapless coach Paul Simonis, but about the entire sporting leadership. According to reports, criticism of sports director Peter Christiansen and sports director Sebastian Schindzielorz is becoming increasingly louder.
“Is the supervisory board preparing the clear-cutting?” asks the “Wolfsburger Allgemeine” – and thereby more than just indicates that there is a lot of trouble among the wolves. As the “Kicker” and “Bild” also report, the control committee advises on crucial questions about the future of the Bundesliga club. The supervisory board meets on Monday evening. The magazine puts it like VfL seems like a club in limbo where no one really knows what will happen next. The results of these internal discussions cannot yet be predicted.

It is said that parts of the team are convinced that the Danish boss Christiansen will talk the Dutch coach Simonis into the lineup. Fitness trainer Christian Clarup, Christiansen’s compatriot, would therefore act as a transmitter of his instructions. Logically, there is no confirmation of these supposed assumptions from the team. Wolfsburg fan “Sascha3599” said in the TM forum: “In my opinion, it’s quite possible that Peter Christiansen will be relieved of his duties tomorrow. He hardly seems to have any advocates in the club. If you read it like that, it’s not surprising.”
What’s next at VfL Wolfsburg? Rumors about Trio
Sports director Schindzielorz gives Coach Simonis at least one more chance on Friday evening in the northern duel of twelfth-placed Werder Bremen. However, it is questionable how much this commitment is worth, because the ex-professional in particular has come into focus due to his lack of connection to the team. According to “Bild”, the first names for a realignment should be making the rounds in the eight-member supervisory board, which includes ex-champion goalkeeper Diego Benaglio: those of ex-sports directors Marcel Schäfer (at RB Leipzig since August 2024) and Jörg Schmadtke and that of Sven Mislintat (both without a club).
Schindzielorz, who has come under criticism, recently said about his role: “I assume that I have the trust. It is completely normal that there is criticism when there is no success. We face this criticism. Nevertheless, I have the feeling that we have a good exchange with each other and that we are trying to solve things. We will do that in the next few days.”
