Herbert Hainer was re-elected as president at FC Bayern’s annual general meeting on Sunday. The Munich-based company also recorded records in terms of sales, personnel costs and membership numbers.

At around 93 percent, the vast majority of members voted for Hainer’s third term in office. According to official information, 1,990 members were present in the hall, of which 85 voted no and 44 abstained from the election in BMW Park. Six years ago, the former Adidas boss was elected as the successor to honorary president Uli Hoeneß with a top result of 98.1 percent yes votes. Three years ago, approval was only 83.3 percent. The vice presidents Dieter Mayer and Walter Mennekes were also confirmed in their positions with a clear majority the day after the Bayern professionals beat Bayer Leverkusen 3-0 in the Bundesliga.

“This office fills me with great humility,” said Hainer before the vote. In his speech, he called the club “an identity powerhouse – and a role model for Europe”. You are independent and don’t depend “on the drip-feed of a large outside investor. This must continue to be our FC Bayern approach.”

FC Bayern announces record sales

At the annual general meeting, FCB also published the figures for the past 2024/25 financial year: 978.3 million euros represent record sales. The total rose by 2.8 percent compared to the previous year. Meanwhile, the group profit before taxes amounts to 42.5 million euros and the annual surplus is 27.1 million euros.

“FC Bayern remains economically powerful, athletically on track and connected to one another – that is our ‘Mia san Mia’ triad. Despite stormy times and a transfer market that has reached new dimensions, we have once again achieved record sales and are reporting a solid profit. This shows the extraordinary strength and substance of our club. We are not volatile – FC Bayern is stable,” said CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen. The attitude of not having more expenses than income is not expected to change in the coming years.

Magic 400 in personnel costs and membership numbers

In terms of personnel costs, the 400 million euro mark was broken for the first time in the club’s history. While last year it was 396.5 million euros, it is now 408.3 million euros. The majority of this sum goes to the players in the professional squad. Jamal Musiala and Harry Kane are said to earn the most with an estimated gross annual salary of 25 million euros each.

The club also reported a new record in terms of members. The number rose from 382,000 to 432,500 compared to the previous year – that’s a world record. This means that there have been “1,000 registrations per week” in the past twelve months, as President Hainer calculated. In a global comparison, Benfica (400,000 members in February) is behind FCB.
