“We know each other’s qualities and we complement each other well,” is Peer Koopmeiners’ analysis of the successful Alkmaar midfield. For a number of years now, almost everyone has agreed that AZ cannot do without Jordy Clasie. Now that the veteran has been injured for a while, Koopmeiners fills his place excellently. “I’m really happy that I’m playing, because that’s why I play football.”
Successful series
With Kees Smit and Sven Mijnans, Koopmeiners forms the midfield and partly thanks to this line, AZ has won the last five games. Trainer Maarten Martens is very pleased with the current performance and attributes the success to three players, among other things. “They are really growing on the physical level.”
