2017: AfD voters are “sons of bitches”
In 2017, on the RBB’s “Evening Show”, Capital Bra was asked by presenter Marco Seiffert whether he could understand the AfD’s already high election results in his home district of Berlin. The rapper replied looking into the camera: “To the AfD and to everyone who voted for the AfD: You are definitely real sons of bitches.”
2018: “Giselle Bündchen” and “Storm mask on”
A year later, Capital Bra released the song “Giselle Bündchen” on his album “Berlin Lives”, his fourth studio album. In it he raps: “Stab the son of a bitch in his liver / Because he’s an AfD voter (hah) / Come in the Porsche Carrera (uff) / Or in the brand new Benz.” And further: “Reload the gun, shoot them all / At the AfD press conference, bra.”
In the same year, Capital Bra was featured on the official remix of Farid Bangs and Kollegah’s joint track “Sturmmaske auf”. There you can hear from Capi: “Bra, I’m going to Ukraine, but my Benz is a little lower / Because my trunk is full of AfD members. F*** their mothers, break their jaws, and you’ll never see them like kamikaze pilots again.”
In the song “Gutes Herz” from 2018, Capital Bra also found clear words for right-wing extremists and AfD voters. There he describes right-wing populists as hypocrites: “Your Nazis are funny, watch anime, get snow from Kanacken, but then vote for the AfD.”
“Now I think to myself, they’re right about some things.”
But now he at least expresses understanding for the voting behavior of AfD supporters. In a livestream with the influencer Vegeraldt Belkason, the Russian-born and Ukrainian-raised musician said: “I used to criticize the AfD very, very, very, very much. Now I think to myself, they are right about some things.”
In particular, he feels that the awarding of German citizenship is unfair. “I have 22 German number one hits, I have four German children, I had a German wife,” he listed. “They still won’t give me a German passport.”
Childhood in Ukraine, youth in Berlin – but no German passport
Capital Bra was born Vladyslav Balovatsky in Russian Siberia in 1994 and spent part of his childhood in Ukraine. At the age of seven he moved with his mother to Berlin to the Hohenschönhausen district, which shaped him.
“Suddenly people come here, they live here for a month, they get a German passport,” said Capital Bra. Germany “brought him up” but denied him citizenship. “Although I pay taxes here in very large sums. They want 45 percent of me, but I’m happy to give it away because I wouldn’t have become a rap star in Ukraine,” said the star in the live stream.
