Erencan Yardimci saw the red card in the Niedersachsensenderby against Hannover 96. However, he will be missing from Eintracht Braunschweig until further notice.
Eintracht Braunschweig will have to make do without striker Erencan Yardimci in the coming games. As the DFB and BTSV announced on Monday afternoon, the attacker was suspended for three league games after his red card in the Niedersachsensenderby against Hannover 96 on Sunday (0:3).
Yardimci will be missing from Eintracht against 1. FC Nürnberg next Saturday, in the home game against VfL Bochum (November 9th) and in the game at Hertha BSC (November 21st). The BTSV has already agreed to the judgment. This makes it legally binding.
The 23-year-old striker grabbed his opponent Boris Tomiak’s neck with both hands on Sunday and was shown a red card in the 20th minute when the score was 0-0. Being outnumbered, the Braunschweig team ultimately lost significantly to their arch-rivals. Shortly after the game, Eintracht coach Heiner Backhaus announced a fine for the loan player from TSG 1899 Hoffenheim.
A day after the game, Yardimci publicly apologized for his omission. “In such an important game, in a moment full of emotions on the pitch, I lost control and let my team down in such a crucial game,” he wrote on Instagram. “I am truly very sad about what happened yesterday and I realize that the consequences have affected each of us.”
