Foreign Minister North Korea to Russia and Belarus
The visit takes place at the invitation of the foreign ministries of Belarus and Russia, the North Korean state news agency KCNA reports. North Korean leader Kim Jong-un said in a speech on Thursday that relations with Russia are at a “historic high”.
Kim spoke at a ceremony to build a museum in Pyongyang to commemorate North Korean soldiers killed during Russia’s war against Ukraine.
On Saturday, US President Donald Trump appeared to make a rapprochement with North Korea. Trump said he was open to meeting Kim, with whom he said he would have “a great relationship.” Kim indicated last month that he would only talk to the US if Washington recognized his country as a nuclear state and no longer demanded that North Korea give up all nuclear weapons.
