SV Wehen Wiesbaden is struggling badly in the 3rd league. The club management has now felt compelled to act. The sports director explains the decision.
Third division team SV Wehen Wiesbaden has reacted to the sporting decline and parted ways with head coach Nils Döring with immediate effect. The club announced the decision on Friday evening – just one day after the home defeat against Alemannia Aachen (1:2).
According to the association, the decision was made in coordination with the supervisory board and the executive committee. Until further notice, the previous assistant coaches Frank Steinmetz and Giuliano Modica will take responsibility for the team.
Döring comes from Wiesbaden and has worked for the club in various roles since 2011. Sports director Uwe Stöver recalled that the 45-year-old “took over the team in a very demanding situation” in April 2023 and “stabilized” it after relegation from the 2nd league. However, they have now “come to the conclusion that a change in the coaching position is necessary in order to bring about a turnaround”.
After twelve match days, Wehen Wiesbaden is in twelfth place in the table. The team recently lost against Hansa Rostock (0:3) and Aachen twice in a row.
