The German basketball champions Bayern Munich have presented a well-known newcomer.
Long-time NBA professional Spencer Dinwiddie has signed a contract with world champion coach Gordon Herbert’s team until the end of the season, the Munich-based company announced. The 32-year-old was most recently under contract in the NBA with the Charlotte Hornets, but was released last week before the start of the season.
“Spencer is an electrifying player, he can score and create for others and had great years in the NBA,” said Herbert, who knows Dinwiddie from their time together at the Brooklyn Nets, for whom Herbert worked as a coaches consultant in the 2019/2020 season.
Last season, Dinwiddie played 79 games for the Dallas Mavericks; from 2021 to 2023, the guard played alongside superstar Luka Doncic in icon Dirk Nowitzki’s former team, among others.
In total, Dinwiddie played for five different franchises in the best basketball league in the world in eleven years. The Detroit Pistons selected him 38th in the draft in 2014, and in addition to the Mavs and Nets, Dinwiddie also played for the Los Angeles Lakers and Washington Wizards. He recently only played preseason games for the Hornets.
